FabPatch™ Instruction for Use
Although the use of FabPatch is very easy, anytime and anywhere, there are a few top tips to remember.
FABPATCH APPLICATION
1. Peel the patch fabric from the liner but do not take the liner off completely.
2. Place the uncovered section on the desired area and then gently pull away the rest of the liner. Do not touch the adhesive! The grease on the fingertips will prevent the patch from attaching correctly.
3. If the hole is large, place another FabPatch™ or a small piece of fabric on the other side. If the hole is small you can pinch it together.
4. Rub the patch firmly with a blunt object for 1-2 minutes.
5. You are ready to go! Also see an instruction video here.
WASHING
1. Properly attached, FabPatch withstands washing on most textiles. However, allow the adhesive to set for at least 3 days before the first wash. The longer you wait before the first wash, the stronger the FabPatch will adhere.
2. You can wash the textile in max. 40 degrees and dry it in a tumble dryer. Do not use dry cleaning or laundry detergents containing softeners. Avoid using gall soap, laundry vinegar, and washing new textiles in the same load, as the treatments on them may cause the patch to come off.
3. Remember to match the FabPatch and garment care instructions!
TO BE NOTED
1. FabPatch adheres best to older textiles that have been washed multiple times.
2. FabPatch Stretch range is made from stretchy recycled polyester and are versatile and suitable for various indoor and outdoor clothing items.
3. Chemicals present in clothing and laundry detergents, such as softeners, can affect the durability of FabPatch. Clothing contains a variety of chemicals, each affecting the fabric in different ways. However, the company strives to make fabric patches as environmentally friendly as possible.
4. Slight fraying at the edges is a characteristic feature of the product.
5. The product has a characteristic odor that is harmless and dissipates within a few hours.
6. FabPatches cannot be reattached. However, any possibly detached edges can be pressed, ironed, and dried in a dryer after washing.
TIPS
1. A small fold in the corner or edge of the FabPatch helps in separating it from the backing paper.
2. In a hurry? Place the patch on the garment, press with your hand, and you're good to go! Remember to finalise the attachment by rubbing with a blunt object, the next day at the latest!
3. If desired, you can cut the FabPatch to a suitable size and shape. Avoid sharp corners and leave enough adhesive surface. Note that cutting may slightly reduce washing resistance.
4. To remove the FabPatch after installation, gently pull it away. Any residual adhesive can usually be removed with warm water and soap. Please be aware that removing the FabPatch may leave marks on more delicate textiles.
5. If the edges fray after washing, you can trim them, sew them, replace the patch, or let them be!
